Teaching, mentoring, workshops and public programmes are an integral part of Atanga’s practice, bringing together listening, making and conversation. His work in this area ranges from field recording, creative audio and music production to podcasting, radio broadcasting and artist talks. Through practical exercises, collective listening and discussion, participants explore how sound can help us pay attention to a place, shape an idea or carry an experience into new work.

His pedagogy is collaborative and grounded in exchange. Participants bring their own knowledge and references; ideas are tested together, and learning moves in both directions. This approach reflects the wider practice, where research develops through listening, experimentation and encounters with people, materials and places. A workshop is one of the spaces in which that work can be shared, questioned and changed.

His current focus is a workshop series in development across Dakar and Berlin, exploring field recording and how environmental sounds and other ecological material can become compositional tools, with Ableton Live at its centre.
